Researchers at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) are developing a technology that could allow electric vehicles (EVs) to charge while in motion.

A UTEP research team is collaborating with engineers to develop Dynamic Wireless Power Transfer (DWPT) roadways. The technology embeds transmitter pads in road surfaces, enabling EVs to charge while driving without requiring a wired connection.

The team specifically worked on modeling the load demand on the electrical grid to make the technology work seamlessly. Let's take a closer look at this Must Read.

Innovative new techniques are being developed to make charging EVs easier as they grow more prevalent on the road; it is predicted that 7.2 million EVs will be sold annually by 2030.

Nowadays, the majority of EVs are charged at home electrical outlets or public charging stations. However, public charging facilities are now scarce, and residential charging technology is frequently slow and electricity-intensive. These restrictions could cause “range anxiety” and prevent EVs from becoming widely used.

A DWPT roadway would integrate transmitter pads into the road surfaces, enabling EVs to charge while driving without requiring a power outlet.

The world’s longest wooden wind turbine, built by Germany’s Voodin Blade Technology, is all set for trial. Senvion has partnered with Voodin to conduct the trial.

The Indian OEM will conduct the trial of Voodin’s blades on its 4.2MW turbine platform.

The partnership will begin with a comprehensive feasibility study to evaluate the technical, economic, and environmental potential of wooden turbine blades, followed by the installation and testing of prototype blades, according to Senvion.

China has been modernizing its military strength with a dedicated focus on advancing its maritime power.

From large aircraft carriers to underwater drones that can fly – these are some of China’s latest weapons that can soon be part of its military.

Now, Beijing is reportedly building a secret submarine, that some experts believe could be the world’s largest underwater combat drone as it lacks a traditional sail structure.
