Career tips
Get hired faster with AI AI can be very helpful during the job search process, with tools to help you write your resume, and the ability to conduct research about the company and sectors that you are applying to work in. However, I see too many engineers relying on tools like ChatGPT to improve their performance during job interviews.Using AI-generated responses to help you answer commonly asked interview questions could put you at a disadvantage as you will be churning out the same answers as other candidates, and there will be little to set you apart. While AI can help you streamline the job search process, you are much better off with the personal touch when it comes to the interview stage. What makes your life and job experiences unique is what will help you stand out from the crowd. Remember, it’s your confidence level and communication skills that will set you apart. Recruiters are looking for candidates who can effectively communicate their technical ideas and collaborate well with other engineers to solve challenging problems. You can't leave your interviewing success up to a machine. It's the one thing AI cannot do for you.

book recommendation
The relationship between perseverance, passion and success was highlighted in the book “Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance,” by Angela Duckworth. The book suggests that ongoing success at work depends on our ability to identify and apply passions and experience a connection between our purpose and our job role. This is why it’s critical for engineers to factor in Passion & Purpose when choosing a career path or a new job, because this is how they can spark the perseverance necessary for optimal performance.
