President Donald Trump has announced a monumental private-sector initiative to transform artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure in the United States.

Named the Stargate Project, this ambitious endeavor involves a collaboration between OpenAI, SoftBank, and Oracle. With an initial commitment of $100 billion, the project aims to scale up to $500 billion within four years.

“What we want to do is we want to keep it in this country,” Trump stated at a White House briefing. “China is a competitor, others are competitors. We want to be in this country, and we’re making it available. I’m gonna help a lot through emergency declarations, because we have an emergency, we have to get this stuff built.” Delve deeper into our Must-Read.

MUST-READ

The Stargate initiative is designed to solidify America’s leadership in AI development while enhancing economic growth and national security.

Executives from OpenAI, SoftBank, and Oracle revealed that the project’s first phase will focus on constructing advanced data centers.

Larry Ellison, Oracle’s co-founder, confirmed that 10 facilities are already being built in Texas, with plans to expand nationwide. “AI holds incredible promise for all of us, for every American,” Ellison emphasized during the announcement.

Researchers have successfully revived “ELIZA,” the world’s first chatbot, utilizing original computer code that had been forgotten for nearly 60 years.

Found in dusty printouts within the MIT archives, Eliza is the “Lucy” of AI Chatbots. This pioneering software was brought back to life by a team dubbed “software archaeologists.”

Developed in the 1960s by MIT professor Joseph Weizenbaum, ELIZA was named after Eliza Doolittle, the protagonist from the play “Pygmalion,” who transforms her speech to pass as a member of high society.

General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) just hit a massive milestone that could alter the future of space exploration.

The company has successfully trialed a nuclear fuel that could one day drastically cut down the travel time to Mars and beyond. The tests showed the fuel can withstand the harsh conditions of a nuclear thermal propulsion reactor.

In other words, it has the capability to one day power a nuclear rocket that could fire humans into deep space at unprecedented speeds.
