Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has unveiled in a state address a new domestically developed long-range drone missile. Called the āPalianytsiaā (a kind of Ukrainian bread), the new droneās development was reportedly completed in less than 18 months.
The new drone has sufficient range, so it is claimed, to be able to easily strike several airfields within Russian territory. This is interesting in and of itself, but it has also been claimed that the new missile was used in anger on Saturday (August 24). For more on this story, check out our Must-Read.

Given the sensitive nature of this new weapon, beyond some 3D renderings of the new drone, no technical details have yet been publicly disclosed. It is also not known how many of these new drones Ukraine has built or intends to build in the future.
However, it has been announced that the new Palianytsia drone can strike around two dozen Russian military installations. It is launched from a ground-based launcher, and features turbojet engines. The new drone also allegedly costs less than conventional long-range missiles.
āIn the two and a half years of full-scale war, Russia has launched about 10,000 missiles of various types and more than 33,000 glide bombs at Ukraine. Stopping attacks on our cities can be achieved by targeting the carriers of this weaponry ā Russian aircraft stationed at military airfields,ā Zelenskyy announced on Facebook.
French authorities have confirmed the detention of Pavel Durov, the Russian-born tech billionaire and CEO of the social messaging app Telegram. Reports from French media indicate that his detention is linked to alleged violations connected to the social media platform.
Authorities are reportedly preparing to charge Durov with serious offenses, including aiding terrorism, fraud, money laundering, and crimes against children. According to French officials, these charges allegedly arise from the platformās minimal content moderation, which has made Telegram a preferred tool for organized crime.
Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, responded with sarcasm, highlighting growing concerns about censorship in his remarks. āItās 2030 in Europe, and youāre being executed for liking a meme,ā he quipped.
Scientists in the UK have gained unprecedented access to over a million brain scans to develop new robust predictive tools that will catch dementia as early as possible in hopes of reducing the impact of the disease.
NEURii is an ambitious and groundbreaking collaborative effort ten years in the making that includes the universities of Edinburgh and Dundee. Equipped with high-quality individual data, AI, and Machine Learning, they intend āto solve issues related to the prediction, prevention, management, and treatment of dementia-related disorders,ā as per a recent announcement.
