Through the state-owned Great British Nuclear, the UK is reportedly in early discussions with Hitachi for the acquisition of a nuclear power plant site on Anglesey Island, Wales.
The facility, featuring two 490-megawatt (MW) nuclear reactors commissioned in 1963 and operational since 1971, benefits from its coastal location, ensuring easy access to seawater for cooling. This move aligns with the UK's broader initiative to foster a nuclear power renaissance, aiming to achieve 24 gigawatts (GW) of capacity by 2050. To find out more about the nuclear plant, check out today's Must Read.

Charles Darwin, a prominent naturalist, geologist, and biologist, transformed science with his theory of natural selection. He introduced the concept of "survival of the fittest," asserting that individuals with advantageous traits thrive and pass them on to descendants. Now, materials from his personal library as part of The Complete Work of Charles Darwin Online project have been unveiled for the first time.
