For the first time, astronomers have quantified the velocity at which neutron stars propel powerful jets into space, a phenomenon critical to understanding the universe's evolution.

What are these jets? They are cosmic streams emitted when matter, such as dust or gas, is drawn towards dense entities like neutron stars, remnants of massive stars. According to a group of astronomers, they travel at roughly one-third the speed of light.

The energy output of these jets can influence the evolution of an entire galaxy or even a galaxy cluster, making them a crucial and fascinating component of the universe. A scientist highlighted the significance of these jets, explaining that they disperse gravitational energy released during the gas's descent.

An electrochemical innovation emerges as a potential remedy for combating ocean acidification and reducing atmospheric carbon dioxide levels. Backed by Carbon to Sea initiative, a team of researchers from McMaster University and the University of Toronto has devised this groundbreaking technology.

It holds promise for alleviating the dire consequences of global warming. This is especially pertinent considering the alarming surge in CO2 emissions witnessed over the past six decades, resulting in a 30 percent escalation in ocean acidity. Such a sharp increase poses a significant threat to marine ecosystems, particularly vulnerable habitats like coral reefs.

Consequently, scientists devised a new method for ocean alkalinity enhancement. This innovation aims to restore the ocean’s pH balance while simultaneously absorbing excess CO2 from the atmosphere.

They're ditching traditional boilers, notorious for their high energy consumption, in favor of cutting-edge technology: heat batteries powered by clean energy. This move marks a significant victory for those advocating sustainable practices in the beverage industry.

The firm partnered with energy innovator Rondo Energy to install massive Heat Batteries at its Kentucky and Illinois sites. These batteries, resembling oversized toasters, will replace natural gas, thanks in part to a $75 million investment from the US Department of Energy. This upgrade is expected to cut emissions by 17,000 metric tons annually, equivalent to removing over 4,000 cars from the road each year.
