SpaceX and two other firms have emerged as the top contenders to build and develop President Donald Trumpās āGolden Domeā missile initiative.
According to a Reuters report, Elon Muskās company is teaming up with startups Palantir and Anduril to bid for the development of critical components of the Golden Dome missile defense system. This initiative has attracted strong interest from a growing wave of defense-focused tech startups.
In an executive order dated January 27, President Trump described a missile strike as āthe most catastrophic threat facing the United States.ā Dive deeper into this Must-Read.

Although the Pentagon has shown encouraging signs toward the SpaceX-led group, several sources emphasized that the selection process for Trumpās Golden Dome initiative remains in its early phases.
The final design and the companies chosen to participate could undergo significant changes in the months ahead.
As per the report, the three firms have held meetings with top officials from the Trump administration and the Pentagon to discuss the plan.

Scientists have discovered a groundbreaking material that expands when crushed, shrinks when heated, and could not only reset aging EV batteries but also reshape the fundamental understanding of matter itself.
In a discovery that appears to challenge the laws of thermodynamics, researchers from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering (PME) and the University of California, San Diego observed negative thermal expansion in metastable oxygen-redox active materials.
Surprisingly, while the material behaves normally under heat, pressure, or electricity in its stable state, the team found that in a newly discovered metastable state, its reactions are completely reversed.

Scientists have developed a new super metal that can maintain its strength and flexibility across an unprecedented range of extreme temperatures.
A research team at POSTECH (Pohang University of Science and Technology) has engineered a novel nickel-based high-entropy alloy (HEA) that performs reliably from the intensely cold temperatures of liquid nitrogen (ā196°C or -321°F) up to a scorching 600°C (1,112°F).
Dubbed a āHyperadaptor,ā the material promises to overcome the limitations of conventional metals in extreme environments and benefit several industries.
