Chinese electric vehicle maker has featured a new EV model whose battery charges from 10 percent to 80 percent in just nine minutes, setting a new world record for the fastest charging time.

Zeekr has achieved this feat with its latest model, the Zeekr 7X, with the 800-volt ā€˜Golden Batteryā€™, capable of adding 1,270 miles (2,043 kilometers) of range per hour.

At the end of 2024, Zeekr claimed the ā€œworldā€™s fastest-chargingā€ battery title after unveiling its latest battery pack that supports 5.5C charging. It was introduced with its latest sedan offering, the 007. Let's take a closer look at this Must Read.

MUST-READ

Zeekr has unveiled its Golden Battery technology in real-world tests, confirming its ability to charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in just nine minutes and 45 seconds.

Fitted to the Zeekr 7X SUV, the 75 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery replicated its late 2023 lab results, demonstrating record-breaking charging speeds.

A video on the Out of Spec Reviews YouTube channel replicated the test. It showcased that the battery could be drained to 0 percent and fully recharged in just 19 minutes using Zeekrā€™s proprietary charging network, reports Evertiq.

Things are known to expand when they get hot. Bridges, roads, and even the Eiffel Tower grow a little taller in the summer.

However, this expansion can be a real problem for many technologies like precision instruments or spacecraft. Thatā€™s why scientists have been searching for a material that maintains a constant size regardless of temperature changes.

Researchers at TU Wien in Vienna have developed a new strong alloy called a pyrochlore magnet. It exhibits incredibly stable dimensions across a wide temperature range of over 400 Kelvin (126.8 degrees Celsius).

An American startup has released the specifications of its newest kamikaze drone offering, which looks like a football used in the NFL.

The drone named P.S. Killer (PSK) is unique not just by its shape ā€“ which is like a rugby or NFL ball ā€“ but also because it can be hand-launched by soldiers to attack the desired target.

The company describes it as a ā€œthrow-and-forget multi-role tactical unmanned aircraft system (UAS).ā€
