A major milestone has been reached in the development of quantum internet technology.

A collaborative effort between the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and company EPB has resulted in a historic first: the transmission of a quantum entangled signal over an existing commercial network.

This is an important step in creating a quantum internet network that is more secure and capable than existing networks. Let's take a closer look at this Must Read.

The teams successfully transmitted quantum-entangled signals between nodes at the University of Tennessee Chattanooga campus and two other EPB quantum network nodes, each about half a mile away.

Quantum computing uses quantum bits or qubits to store information. Unlike classical binary bits, qubits can exist in more than one state at one time, allowing combinations of physical values to be encoded to a single object.

Qubits can also be entangled, transmitting information from one place to another without physically traveling the distance.

French scientists identified an astonishingly sophisticated three-dimensional map in a rock shelter that depicts the surrounding landscape.

Sègognole 3 in Noisy-sur-École has been famous since the 1980s for its remarkable collection of figurative cave art and engravings, notably horses on either side of a female pubic figuration. But only recently did French scientists note a pattern.

New research indicates that around 13,000 years ago, Palaeolithic people shaped part of the sandstone shelter floor to mirror the natural water flows and geomorphological features of the surrounding region.

Centuries-old mummified remains from pre-Hispanic South America demonstrate the widespread practice of tattooing.

Tattoos on mummies degrade over time due to decay and ink bleed, making it difficult to study their original designs. But now, a laser-based technique is shedding new light on these ancient artworks.

An international team of researchers introduced a new technique called Introducing Laser-Stimulated Fluorescence (LSF).
